I think I posted the following in the wrong place, so I am posting my further question here: I had the eggs in the lime solution for probably 4-6 weeks. I don't remember exactly. Would you say that the following is still a good idea for dogs: To feed them to your dogs, crack them open, scramble them and place them into a well-greased casserole dish or roasting pan, cover them, and bake at 350F until well done. When cool, cut into serving sizes or snack sizes. Set a few servings aside that can keep in the fridge for a day or two, and place the rest on a cookie sheet to freeze. Freeze for 24 hours and toss into a ziplock bag. If yes for dogs, would washing them be a good idea before scrambling and then placing in the oven at 350F? I don't have any other animals. Forgive my confusion, but when I read your comment, "Heat your canner to a high boil with the lid offset on top. This heats the walls of the canner and lid properly. Fill your jars and load them into the boiling canner and close the lid and seal it while evacuation takes place." This tells me to to fill non heated jars and load them into hot water that was just heating up the walls of the canner and lid. Is that what you are recommending doing? If so, won't this break the jars? Thank you.

Hello and thank you for answering, but I am not talking about sterilization and neither is the Ball Canning book nor the All American Canner book (which I just got recently, so it is the updated version). It seems they are talking about putting non heated jars into hot water in the canner.
