Gardening was a way of life for our family. All of my Grandparents had gardens.
Chapter 3: Clients
Mom caring for a late-season cucumber plant. In the far background, you can see the compost pile behind the structure she used as a greenhouse in the early spring.
Mom often worked in the garden or processed food where she could see us from the kitchen window, always keeping an eye on us while swimming. You can see a gallon jug hung upside down on a rebar piece driven into the soil. The wind would blow on the jug, making noise to keep the ground moles away from the horseradish roots.
