Chapter 50: Clients

I spend the early summer growing produce to feed the livestock. I can grow a cucumber as long as my leg!

In later summer, I'd feed the pigs canteloupe. In the fall I had sweet potatoes to share.

I enjoyed caring for the pigs and keeping them comfortable. They had a nice size wallow all summer to stay cool and to help keep the bugs off.

I'm thinking ham.

Headed off to get household provisions I can't make or don't have the time to create at home. Running a homestead leaves very little free time.

The closest neighbor we had was just over a quarter mile away in the little town I could see off in the distance from our front gate.
